Preeti Aghalayam

Preeti AghalayamPreeti Aghalayam is a Professor in the Dept. of Chemical Engg., IIT Madras. She was previously at the Dept. of Chemical Engg., IIT Bombay during 2002-2009. Her education includes a B.Tech from IIT Madras, MS from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, and PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. She was a post-doctoral researcher at MIT, Cambridge, MA during 2000-2002. Preeti’s research work is in the broad area of detailed kinetic modeling for industrially relevant systems. Her main focus areas have been in automotive after treatment in the catalytic reduction of NO from fuel-lean engines; carbon black formation, soot in fuel-rich flames; and underground coal gasification. Preeti has several international publications to her credit, and has authored a book entitled “Mathematical modeling for underground coal gasification” published by Momentum Press in 2018.
